Our Equality Statement and Objectives

At Galleywall we recognise and respect difference in people and believe that everyone should be treated with equal value. At the foundation of Galleywall lie 5 core values, which are the essence of the teaching and learning within our school. These values are Aspirational, Entrepreneurial, Individual, Enlightened and Compassionate. Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure children have a chance to express their beliefs and opinions in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Our pupils are taught to be tolerant and respectful of others.

The ethos of our school clearly reflects our commitment to fully including, respecting all members of our school community.

Our recruitment information actively encourages people from a range of backgrounds to apply to work here and processes are conducted in a transparent and fair way.

Our publicity material attempts to reflect the local community in which we exist.

We aim to:

  1. Hold events such as Black History and Chinese New Year, that promote equality and cultural diversity of our local area.
  2. Teach a creative curriculum that is broad and balanced that supports the mental health of our pupils and their awareness of others’ needs.
  3. Help children understand themselves and build positive relationships without prejudice.
  4. Ensure that staff and the governing body are aware of current legislation surrounding equality and diversity and understand the school’s responsibility.

The COLAT policy on equality and diversity is here.
