Year 5 Adventure and Team-Building Trip

Year 5 went on their adventure team-building trip, run by outdoor pursuits company ROOTD on the Phasels Wood Campsite in King’s Langley, Hertfordshire. The purpose of this activity was to build resilience, independence, tolerance and teamwork. Things got off to a challenging start when the coach broke down just off the M1. This was quickly fixed with a replacement vehicle, but an unplanned and unexpected stop and pupils did well to take it in their stride and amuse themselves calmly as we waited. We arrived at the centre and unloaded into little “pods” – wooden cabins placed round a camping field. Activities included: Bushcraft – lighting fires with a flint and steel and building shelters from pieces of material and rope. Finding and studying small bugs found in the forest.
